Making, Creating, ah yes!

Today's Reverb10 prompt is from Gretchen Rubin:

Make. What was the last thing you made? What materials did you use? Is there something you want to make, but you need to clear some time for it?

The last thing I finished making was a knitted, felted (wool) head band. It still needs a little more felting, so I'll throw it in the laundry today, then hopefully it'll be done.

Time isn't my issue when it comes to making stuff. No. My issue is finishing (and deciding what to start, there's so many projects to want to do!) Also, with knitting I have a lot of pain if I knit too much, so I have to space it out, but that defies my obsessive do-it-all-at-once personality, so I stop knitting for long periods of time. That's ok. I create lots of other things. That's what I do.

I create poems. Photos. Art. LWI dyed clothes/ diapers. I knit, crochet, sew (patches on). I create dance pieces. I used to create characters through acting, but I retired during university. I even created three human beings! That was pretty effing amazing.

I do notice that when I'm stressed, I don't create as much. Usually the only antidote to that is to notice and start creating again! Photography is especially useful as a medium for that sort of self expression. Poetry, too.

I'm thinking about making hoops (because I want to experiment with size) but that requires a little more room than what we have right now, so I will probably refrain. We'll see.

The next thing I know I want to create is a pretty strap cover for my camera. I have all the fabric and the time. I just need to do it! I'm thinking today would be a great day... While I finish watching Two Towers (which I started watching for the 50th time last week, while doing some clothes mending).

I also am wanting to explore wet and nuno felting, but I think I need more guidance first.
