"truth, beauty, kindness, blessing, love: I embody all of these and more...."

I was having a really bad day two weeks ago and I asked myself what I needed most. "Kindness" came back to me as the answer. So, I wrote it on my hand and then added some other words, one for each finger: truth, beauty, kindness, blessing, love... and then on my wrist, which I could not for the life of me photograph well, I wrote "I embody all of these and more...."

And you know what? It turned my day around. Not entirely, but sure enough, I could smile after. And the next day dawned with a lot more happiness and gratitude.

"truth, beauty, kindness, blessing, love: I embody all of these and more...."

I took photos (obviously) but I didn't do anything with them for two weeks. I thought maybe it would be self-indulgent to share the words I felt drawn to write on my hand here. Or silly.

And then yesterday, I read this lovely blog post by Tara Sophia Mohr on how affirming one's values closed the gender gap in physics classes. Awesome! It's not self-indulgent at all! It's a great idea! And one that I could share; since it did actually help me out, maybe it might help turn someone else's bad mood around...

So, if you feel inspired, try this out. Ask yourself, "What message do I need to hear right now?" and then write out the response, on your body/ hand, or your journal/ a piece of paper, or even just in the comments here!

And know that this, which is true for me, I hold to be true for you (if you let it be):

"truth, beauty, kindness, blessing, love: I embody all of these and more...."

Let your values light up your world. Be who you are. That is enough.
