it's about to get all birthday-y up in here!

Last week, I had a crazy idea: what if I threw an online give-away for my friends?

(This idea was inspired by a FB friend gifting me a beautiful hamsa necklace. And by potlatch practicing cultures. And by gratitude, for my bountiful life.)

Today, I am happy beyond measure to make it happen. I created a facebook group and am going to be posting pictures for friends to claim their gifts. (I am not mailing them on my birthday because that doesn't seem fun.)

If you haven't already been added to this facebook group (and we are already friends on FB), go to my wall and click on the link I left there this morning. I'm not posting it here for obvious reasons.

ʚϊɞ ʚϊɞ ʚϊɞ ʚϊɞ ʚϊɞ ʚϊɞ ʚϊɞ ʚϊɞ ʚϊɞ ʚϊɞ ʚϊɞ ʚϊɞ ʚϊɞ ʚϊɞ ʚϊɞ ʚϊɞ ʚϊɞ ʚϊɞ ʚϊɞ ʚϊɞ ʚϊɞ ʚϊɞ ʚϊɞ ʚϊɞ ʚϊɞ ʚϊɞ ʚϊɞ ʚϊɞ ʚϊɞ ʚϊɞ ʚϊɞ

In addition, to really celebrate my birthday, I would love it if you would spread some love today. Make a donation in my name. Or in your own name. Or to honor the memory of your most beloved departed one. Or your cat. Actually, I really don't care why, but if you have a little money (or even just energy) to spare, play it forward.

You could:

* Donate $18 to my Oxfam Fundraising page!

* Lend some money via Kiva.

* Pay for the drink of the person behind you in line at Starbucks.

* Give an outlandish tip when you go out to dinner tonight!

* Tell five people how amazingly beautiful they are.

* Look in the mirror and smile brightly at your own beautiful self and believe in your own self worth.

* Sign up to write love notes for the post card project!

* Join me in getting a massage today. Or give one to someone who needs one more than you do.

* Print out some Kind Over Matter love bombs and beautify the world with them!

OK, now I'm off to go photograph the things I am giving away. And then to treat myself to a massage and lunch (I'm thinking sushi).

But before I go, let me give my mom and dad (and all my ancestors) a big huge public thank you for bringing me into this world. I am (and you are) the result of a long chain of amazing events. The odds of everything conspiring to bring us to this day are so tiny, if you stop to think about them. And so: thank you. thank you. thank you.

(Also thank you to my friend G for the butterflies ʚϊɞ. Which I probably overused in this post. Oh well. Thank you.)
