reverence for this beautiful fragile world
In the depth of autumn, the multicolored leaves under my feet evoke a depth of feeling I can only compare to spring, when the flowering trees astonish me with their new-found beauty.
In the depth of summer, the overwhelming green everywhere fuels me forward without pushing me too hard.
In the depth of spring, the warming world heals me and makes me realize the hope that was always there, the beauty of life all around me, welcoming everyone, everywhere, despite the fragility of it all.
In the depth of winter, I curl inward, getting as comfy-cozy as can be, and rely on my own reserves to get through, one breath at a time, one moment after another and it does make me realize just how strong I am.
Each season brings a new remembrance. How true this quote by Yoko Ono is:
“Spring passes and one remembers one's innocence.Summer passes and one remembers one's exuberance.Autumn passes and one remembers one's reverence.Winter passes and one remembers one's perseverance.”
And I connect with each season when I am present to what is happening around me. When I walk into the natural world and see it's beauty. (For me, that's the gift of photo walking.)
I connect with each season when I connect with the world around me. With the beauty and with the pain.
(I sent prayers and a monetary donation to the Philippines today. My heart is in shock at the scope of the devastation which was revealed yesterday. Please donate if you can. Find a reputable charity with charity navigator or use the link to Mercy Corps that I used. If you cannot donate, please pass word along anyway. Paying it forward may mean someone who hadn't donated may donate because of you. You can still influence the world, without money.)
May we all connect with the innocence, exuberance, reverence and perseverance in our own seasons.
May we all remember.
May peace increase in this beautiful, fragile world with our remembering.
