from my archives: the wilderness inside

The storm passed yesterday afternoon. The light came back (it was always there). It got a little warmer.
Despite living in the suburbs, I feel the shifts, I feel the turns of the earth. I'm removed from the woods, from the wild, but I am still wild.
Yesterday, my friend Gayle Brandeis posted this story she had written: The Coyote in the Elevator.
And the coyote inside me leaped and howled in empathy.
