poeming on the day before flying home

all the wide world

at the breaking points,
fault lines running
around continents
and oceans, there's
reluctance to touch.
the way ice shatters
but water merges,
and fault lines skip
country to country
              the manmade lines.
the way energy expands
and earthquakes
break open that which
never was and never
will be, again and again.
